General comments

This guide is not written with one type of tourist in mind (it's not even written for just tourists). The information in this guide is commented so that it gives an idea if you are going to be interested depending on your taste. For instance, if you don't like touristy place, this guide will tell you if the site is visited by tourists or locals (and what kind of locals...). It is also written by someone who is budget minded, so it will be obvious when things are too expensive. The guide also gives you pointer how to see free shows or get free information. Keep in mind that the guide is updated almost weekly, so it'll get more complete as I go along.

The guide also has a personal slant, I will give my opinion on things from time to time but it will be clearly marked as "just my opinion", it won't be presented as facts. There will also be brief discussions on local or regional politics as well and local habits or customs, but it won't go into great details so it could be perceived at time as superficial, especially to montrealers. But it will give enough information to have a general idea of life in Montreal.

I also kept in mind, while writing this guide, that it will be read on a computer screen (although it can be printed). Each information is written to fit the short pages and the texts have been condensed to their maximum (while not losing information). So don't expect ten page long proses, just paragraphs that are short and to the point.

All the activities, museums, hotels in this guide are accessible by metro or bus on the island of Montreal. If it's in the suburbs off the island then it's not in this guide.

The guide is written by a french-speaking Montrealer (whose first language is not english...). The quality of english will not be the best (syntax wise) but with a little help from the dictionary, it won't be too bad. So if you find blatant grammatical mistakes, just e-mail back. It will be greatly appreciated.

N.B.
This is maybe the first and only Montreal guide that doesn't use the expression "Joie de vivre" to describe montrealers in the history of travel guides... just kidding.
