Shopping

Montreal has a large number of different stores and boutiques, and for some reason, an inordinate number of shoe stores. So if you have a shoe fetish, you are in the right place. There are many different shopping areas and shopping malls with different specialities, from the antique shops of Notre-Dame street west to the upscale boutiques of the museum district. There's also a lot of choice in Montreal when it comes to what you can buy. Just take music for example, there's no other place in North America where there's a larger selection of CDs and albums, from french music (local and european) to canadian, american and world music. The same thing can be said for books and even food. Plus the fact that the canadian dollar is currently weak compared to most foreign currencies (up to 50% exchange rate compared to the US dollar - August 1998) makes it even more interesting.
