Television

If it's a rainy day and you've already visited the underground shopping malls, the Biodôme and Olympic stadium's tower, the Place des Arts (there isn't much to see there except when there are shows but the is the Contemporary art museum), etc.... by the way all these sights are directly connected to a metro station or part of the underground or very close to it so you don't have to be exposed to the elements... or you're just tired of visiting, here's your choice of television stations you can watch in Montreal :
English (without cable) :
CBC, channel 6, cable 13 (public television - Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, good local news and documentaries)
CTV, channel 12, cable 11 (private television, 90% american television shows)
Global, channel 5, cable 3 (new private television station based in Quebec city, 99% american television shows)
English (with Videotron cable service - east) :
CBS, cable 21 (american television network)
PBS, cable 20 and 24 (yes two PBS - Public American Television - stations, we can't get enough of those pledge drives)
NBC, cable 23 (american television network)
ABC, cable 22 (american television network)
CBC Newsworld, cable 25 (24 hrs canadian news station)
CTV/Global, cable 45 (shows mostly american television shows, Ottawa based station)
French (without cable):
Radio-Canada, channel 2, cable 4 (french service of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, it has it's own shows and news).
Quatre-Saisons, channel 35, cable 5 (private television stations that shows local programming, translated american shows and is well known for its Saturday night -at around midnight - soft-porn movie of the week).
TVA, channel 10, cable 7 (private television stations that shows local programming, translated american shows, better known for its talk shows).
Télé-Québec, channel 17, cable 8 (Quebec's public television that shows uncut, uncensored european and independant movies, documentaries and public affairs shows, etc... It has the best selection of independant films on television... anywhere).
French (with cable, Videotron) :
TV5, cable 15 (shows and news from french speaking countries around the globe)
Musique Plus, cable 30 (music videos from local and international english and french speaking artists)
RDI, cable 19 (24 hrs french language news station, has great live coverage).
There are other specialty channels on cable (weather, classified ads, houses for sale, etc). There's also Videotron cable service in the western section of the island but the service is a little different (more english stations). Of course, if you have access to a digital and regular satellite dish, then you have even more choices.
