In one line : the only tibetan place in town with a cozy backyard terrasse.
Review : The surprising and puzzling thing about this restaurant is the menu, not the content of the menu but the menu itself. It looks and feels like it hasn't been changed for years (the corners of the pages are all shriveled up and used), I still can't figure why they don't change it (OK, since the first time I ate there, I came back and they did change the menus, they are now laminated). If you have the chance, eat at the backyard terrasse (in the summer of course), the back of the house looks a little run-down but it's very comfortable. You might also get a visit of a neighbourhood alley cat going from table to table asking for scraps...
There's a very inexpensive table d'hôte (around $8.00 for soup, main dish and coffee). The soup tastes a little like (good) indian lentil soup but not as spicy. The momos (meat filled dumplings) look and taste a little like polish pierogies and are a tad bland (the salsa like dipping sauce add a little zest to it though). The fried noodles were good (described as thai-like but not as spicy) and the Lhassa chicken is said to be excellent. The sorbet dessert is reputed to be excellent but there was none available that night (the kiwi and mandarin in cream was quite good as a replacement dessert). But one thing is for sure, it's the best Tibetan restaurant in Montreal (the fact that it's the only one has a little to do with that).
