Old 'old' court house
Description | Neighbourhood : Old Montreal Type : Interesting building Year of construction : N/A Style : N/A Best : NA
The "old" court house was designed by John Ostell and H. Maurice Perrault. It was dedicated in 1856. The style of this building is neo-classic, a style that was very popular back then.
The dome and the third floor were added only 35 years later (lets say 35 years after its dedication). This building is built with rustic stone, that gives it its monumental or massive look.
This building was sold to the city of Montreal for the amount of a dollar...and was transformed into offices. The offices of the C.I.D.E.M. are there now.
