En une phrase : inexpensive and friendly.
Critique : This has to be one of the least expensive restaurant in Montreal. The short menu is written on a piece of cardboard on the wall and is mainly divided in two : the rotis and the stews (and there are a couple of appetizers). They also have Guyanese style dishes. I wanted to start out with a couple of patties, but they didn't have any at the time (!). I chose instead the mutton roti (for those who don't know what's a roti, it's a curry stew put into a folded pancake-like dough or crepe made from chickpea flour). The mutton was very tender considering it's mutton... and the roti dough was excellent as were the potatoes and green onion that were in the mutton stew. The whole thing was enough for a lunch but since this was my supper, I also tried a boneless chicken roti. It was also good but there were some little annoying pieces of bones in it. The stews on the menu (around $8.00 now) offer the same choice of meat but they come with rice, plantain and a small salad which makes for a complete meal. They also offer pumpkin puree with the curries and rotis, why anyone would say no is beyond me. By the way, the little red bottle on the table is spicy sauce, taste it before putting too much on your food.
They also have a complete selection of carabbean soft drinks and alcool. By the way, the service is friendly but I think it has changed owners recently. The last owner was very friendly and easy to talk to. And the prices have changed too, a roti use to be around $4.00 but now its around $7.00 which is still cheap but not as cheap as it use to be.
