Le Corrid'art / The Long Haul, "was founded in 2001 by John Tinholt and Vanessa Yanow. They renovated the soon-to-be Long Hall space into a functional home/studio for them and an affordable workplace for many. There are a total of 18 studio spaces. There are currently 30 «Long Haulers», including a number of acclaimed Montreal-based emerging and established visual artists, exhibiting locally and internationally, whose work enriches our local communities and Canada's culture. We organize ourselves collectively, meeting several times a year to engender a cross-pollination of ideas and directions, to decide policy, and to encourage a commonality of purpose and identity. John and Vanessa rent out a portion of their place as a low-cost exhibition space for talented emerging artists, students and collectives working in any medium. Over the course of seven years, thousands have come to our unique, memorable and hospitable Long Hall events. By fostering local artists and their work, by promoting alternatives to the economic constraints of the mainstream art scene, and by blurring the boundaries between the private and public space, the Long Hall strives to maintain these ideals and continues to evolve."
