Chez Bertand(Diner/Cafe)
Price range : $ Rating : 3 Terrasse : No
This is the living definition of a casse-croute (some form of greasy spoon), since the place is covered by a layer of grease (even the air feels greasy). The specialty here is home made spruce beer, it's not for the weak of stomach.. what is spruce beer? It is a soft drink made out of spruce gum extracts, it's also an acquired taste. You can buy it by the glass (free refills) or by the bottle (old-time bottle with rubber corks and a metal brace-like hinge... there's a deposit for the bottle). There's also the usual casse-croute stuff : hot-dogs, burgers and fries and not much else. The service is homey and friendly, it's a well known place for the locals and spruce beers connaisseurs.
- Always call before going to a restaurant, just in case the restaurant is closed or are on vacation. You can also check if you need to make reservations.
